Part 5 · Progression · Chapter 19

Ranks

Sixty career ranks: the more you play and achieve, the higher you climb. You never go down.

The ladder

The career has 60 Ranks, in 12 tiers of five divisions (I to V). You climb by earning career XP, and your Rank never drops. From tier 7 (Herald of Myths) you get a profile frame.

The twelve tiers; those marked "gate" require achievements.

Your Rank in a duel

During a duel, the plate with your name shows your Rank insignia at a large size and its name, in the tier's color. Against another player, their plate shows their Rank the same way; against the computer, only yours appears.

How to earn XP

Every real duel (Real duel) gives XP:

ModeWinLoss
Ranked100 XP40 XP
Casual70 XP30 XP
Tournament120 XP50 XP
Against the computer50 XP20 XP

On a win there is a grade bonus: +30 for grade S and +15 for A. The first win of the day (UTC) gives +150. Surrendering or abandoning and losing gives 0 XP; a friend challenge gives 0; and at most 3 paid duels per opponent per day count.

One-time milestones

Some achievements give XP only once, and have no cap:

The daily cap

Repeatable XP (duels and first win) has daily bands: up to 1,200 XP you earn 100%; from 1,200 to 3,600, 25%; above that, 5%. One-time milestones have no cap.

The gates

In the high ranks XP alone is not enough: there are gates, achievements it cannot buy (seasons in Diamond and Mythic, tournaments won, Kaelmyr with grade S, fusions discovered, the full collection…). Gates are cumulative. XP keeps coming in while a gate holds you back, and your Rank jumps as soon as the gate opens. The full table is in Appendix B.

Rank and trading

Rank 9 (Torchbearer IV, 3,550 XP) is one of the conditions to trade cards with other players, together with 14 days of account age, 10 days with a duel and 5 of them PvP (Who can trade). For epic-or-better cards the requirement rises to Rank 12. Since the Rank never goes down, losing points in ranked does not lock trading again.
