Five ways to finish
- Life at zero: whoever reaches 0 Life loses.
- Empty deck: if, at the start of your turn, you must draw and your deck is empty, you lose. Drawing through a spell effect with an empty deck does not make you lose.
- Surrender: the Surrender button, with confirmation, is an immediate defeat.
- Time: the clock running out is a defeat.
- Abandonment: disconnecting and not coming back within the grace period is a defeat.
The clock
| Against another player | Against the computer | |
|---|---|---|
| Time per turn | 80 s | 80 s |
| Time runs out | the turn passes; 3 in a row = defeat | the turn passes; 3 in a row = defeat |
| Disconnect grace | 60 s | 300 s |
Each turn has 80 seconds against another player and 80 seconds against the computer, with no reserve (in your first duel, the guided one, it is 30 minutes). In the last 10 seconds of your turn the clock turns red, pulses and goes tick-tock. If time runs out, the turn passes by itself and the notice Time is up — turn passed appears; only letting the time run out 3 times in a row loses the duel (any action of yours, even tapping End turn, resets the count, and the notice of the one before the last says the next one is a defeat). If you disconnect, you have a grace period to come back before losing by abandonment.
The POW and TEC grades
At the end of the duel the game gives two grades, from 0 to 100 points each:
- POW (Power) = 50 + fusions × 4 + effective attacks × 2 − turns + (Life ÷ 1000) × 3;
- TEC (Technique) = 50 + spells × 4 + traps × 6 − turns, plus 20 if you won by empty deck.
| Grade | Points (POW or TEC) | Gold per win (computer) |
|---|---|---|
| S | ≥ 90 | 120 gold |
| A | ≥ 75 | 90 gold |
| B | ≥ 60 | 60 gold |
| C | ≥ 45 | 40 gold |
| D | < 45 | 20 gold |

What is a "real duel"
To stop rewards from being "farmed" with empty duels, only a real duel pays pass XP, career XP, quests and PvP gold:
- Against another player: each side made at least 3 plays or attacks and at least 90 seconds went by.
- Against the computer: you made at least 3 plays or attacks and the duel reached turn 4.
Also, against the same opponent, only 3 PvP duels (Ranked or Casual) per UTC day pay gold, career XP and quests.
The difficulty levels
The computer duelists play at four levels. All of them see only what a player would see: they have no hidden information about your hand.
| Level | Where it appears |
|---|---|
| Apprentice | Position 1 of each region (tutorial) |
| Duelist | Positions 2, 3 and 4 |
| Master | Position 5 |
| Legend | The Guardian (position 6), Kaelmyr and Legend Mode |
