Jaguar Knight of the Night

The myth

The jaguar warriors, ocelomeh, were the other great Mexica military order, alongside the eagle warriors. If the eagle was the bird of the daytime sun, the jaguar was the beast of night, earth and the underworld, tied to Tezcatlipoca and Tepeyóllotl. So the eagle-jaguar pair stood for day and night. Jaguar warriors wore jaguar pelts and wooden helmets with fangs, and joined the order only after several captures in battle. The card’s “midnight sun” alludes to the sun that, for the Mexica, crossed the underworld at night.

Why it has this power

A Level 7 Rare with 2350 ATK and 2100 DEF — a bit stronger than the Eagle Knight, like the heavier night. Earth is the jaguar’s domain; Sun and Fox, the night sun and the hunter’s cunning. He is born by fusing the Apprentice Jaguar Warrior with any Beast, and with the Eagle Knight he forms the Eagle-Jaguar Order.
