The myth
The King of the Termite Mounds is a MYTHENOR creation that exaggerates something real. In the Cerrado, termite mounds can be hard as stone and as tall as a person, forming whole landscapes where millions of insects live. The giant anteater is the one that can tear them open with its claws and feed without destroying the colony, coming back another day. In rural Brazil the anteater's embrace is famous: when cornered it rises on its hind legs and opens arms armed with claws, and there are accounts of jaguars wounded in that encounter. The card imagines this animal as a sovereign.
Why it has this power
A level 6 rare, fusion only: Giant Anteater plus Living Anthill. It rises from ATK 1000 to ATK 2200, with DEF 2200: perfect balance, like an embrace that defends and attacks at once. It remains an earth-element Beast. It trades Sun for Feather, beside Bull.
Did you know
In Brazil's Emas National Park, termite mounds glow at night thanks to the luminous larvae of a click beetle, Pyrearinus termitilluminans, living in them.
