Clay-Masked Jaguar Warrior

The myth

This warrior is a MYTHENOR creation that weaves together three real threads. The first is the jaguar, a symbol of strength in many Indigenous cultures. The second is masks, used by several peoples of Brazil in festivals and rituals, usually made of wood, bark, straw and feathers; the clay mask on the card is the game's invention. The third is the icamiabas: in 1542 Friar Gaspar de Carvajal, of Orellana's expedition, reported battles with warrior women on the great river, and the story gave the Amazon its name. Legend also links them to the muiraquitã amulets.

Why it has this power

A level 3 common with ATK 1200 and DEF 1100: a good attack for an early card. It is an earth-element Beast-Warrior, half jaguar and half fighter. Sun and Fox speak of courage in daylight and the huntress's cunning. It benefits from both Warrior and Beast equipment.

Did you know

The Amazon River is named after the Amazons of Greek myth, whom the Spaniards linked to the warrior women they claimed to have fought.
