The myth
Bellerophon was a hero of Corinth, grandson of Sisyphus. In the Iliad the wife of King Proetus falsely accuses him, and the king sends him to Lycia with folded tablets bearing baneful signs that ask for his death. The king of Lycia sets him deadly tasks: kill the Chimera, fight the Solymi and the Amazons, survive an ambush. He overcomes them all and marries the princess. Pindar tells that Athena gave him a golden bridle to tame Pegasus by the spring of Peirene. Later, grown proud, he tried to fly to Olympus and fell.
Why it has this power
A Common level-5 card with 1700 ATK and 1500 DEF: alone, Bellerophon is merely a good warrior; his legend depends on the winged horse. A Wind Warrior, he bears the Feather and Hammer constellations, the wing and the fight. Fused with Pegasus, he becomes Bellerophon Astride Pegasus, an Epic card with 2750 attack.

The tablets with baneful signs in Bellerophon's story are the only clear mention of writing in all of Homer.
