The myth
Perseus was the son of Zeus and the princess Danae, whom the god visited as a shower of gold. Cast into the sea in a chest by his grandfather Acrisius, mother and son reached the island of Seriphos. King Polydectes, wishing to be rid of the hero, demanded Medusa's head. With the help of Athena and Hermes, Perseus obtained winged sandals, a pouch and the helm of Hades from the nymphs, and an adamantine sickle from Hermes. He beheaded Medusa while watching her reflection in a bronze shield, saved Andromeda from a sea monster and turned Polydectes to stone (Apollodorus 2.4).
Why it has this power
An Uncommon level-6 card with 2150 ATK and 1800 DEF: a strong hero whose victory comes more from the gods' gifts than from his muscles. A Light Warrior, he bears the Sun and Hammer constellations. Fused with Euryale he yields Pegasus, recalling the winged horse born when he defeated the Gorgons.
