The myth

Theseus was the great hero of Athens, son of the princess Aethra and King Aegeus or, in other versions, of Poseidon. Raised in Troezen, he lifted a rock to find the sword and sandals his father had left and traveled overland to Athens, defeating bandits such as Sciron and Procrustes on the way. In Athens he escaped Medea's poison, captured the bull of Marathon and volunteered as one of the youths sent to the Minotaur. Returning, he forgot to change the black sail for a white one, and Aegeus in despair threw himself into the sea that would bear his name (Plutarch, Life of Theseus).

Why it has this power

An Uncommon level-5 card with 1850 ATK and 1600 DEF: a hero still young, strong but far from his prime. A Light Warrior, like the founder who brought order to Athens, he bears the Sun and Hammer constellations. Fused with the Minotaur of the Labyrinth, he becomes Theseus, Victor of the Labyrinth, his legendary form.

Did you know

Plutarch says the Athenians preserved Theseus's ship by replacing its rotten planks, and philosophers argued whether it was still the same ship.
