Part 4 · Game modes · Chapter 14

Daily Challenge

A boss and special rules, the same for everyone, with a daily leaderboard.

How it works

Every UTC day the game picks one boss (a duelist from the third position onward of any region, or the final villain) and one or two modifiers, which change the rules of the duel. A pair of modifiers that cancel each other never comes up. The challenge is the same for all players.

You have 3 attempts per day and the best one counts. A voided attempt does not count. You play with a deck of yours (in Classic mode) or with the Starter deck on loan.

The modifiers

The thirteen possible modifiers:

ModifierWhat changes
4000 starting LPBoth duelists start with 4000 LP.
Hand of 6Opening hand of 6 and draw up to 6 every turn.
Fusion +300 ATKEvery monster made by fusion gets +300 ATK.
Constellations +1000The constellation advantage is worth +1000 instead of +500.
No trapsSet traps never trigger.
Fixed fieldA mythology field is active all duel; field cards cannot be activated.
Turn-1 attackThe first player may attack on turn 1.
Themed boss deckEvery monster in the boss deck shares one type.
Double direct damageDirect attacks deal double damage.
Double spell powerSpell heals, burns, boosts and weakens are doubled.
Blitz duelEach deck keeps only 20 cards — decks run out fast.
WallEvery monster has +500 DEF.
Fortified bossThe boss starts with +2000 LP.

These pairs never come up together: reduced starting LP with double direct damage; reduced starting LP with a fortified boss; and blitz duel with a hand of 6.

The points

A win is worth POW + TEC + 5 × (30 − turns). Going past 30 turns gives no bonus, and a defeat is worth zero. Example: with POW 80, TEC 70 and 12 turns, that is 80 + 70 + 5 × (30 − 12) = 240 points.

Rewards and leaderboard

  • The first win of the day gives 5 dust. Every 7 cleared days it also gives 1 Traveler's Pack (the gold pack), without spending gold.
  • The duel pays the normal gold by grade, inside the daily cap against the computer (300 gold); it does not draw a card from the boss.
  • The daily leaderboard shows the top 100 and your position. Whoever ends in the top 10% (at least one person) wears the Champion of the Day title for the next 24 hours.
