The myth

The Sun-Macaw is a MYTHENOR creation. It joins the red macaw, whose color recalls late afternoon, with the Sun of Guarani traditions. In Guarani narratives the Sun, Kuaray, and the Moon, Jasy, are twin brothers whose mother was killed by the celestial jaguars, and their adventures shape the world. In Tupi tradition the sun is called kûarasy, the source of the name Guaraci. There is no Indigenous myth of a macaw carrying the sun; the card imagines this bird as a companion of dusk, bringing the light down to the riverbank.

Why it has this power

A level 7 rare, fusion only: Scarlet Macaw of the Cliff plus Messenger of the Dawn. It rises from ATK 1100 to ATK 2300, with DEF 1900. It is a fire-element Bird, the red sky of sunset. It trades Sun for Feather, beside Crown: now it is the bird that keeps the light.

In the western Amazon, hundreds of macaws and parrots come down almost daily to riverbank clay licks, probably in search of sodium.
