The myth

Red macaws are real birds of Brazil's forests, large, loud and brightly colored. They live in faithful pairs, nest in tree hollows and cliff faces, and gather at clay banks to eat soil, which helps them digest seeds. Their Portuguese name, arara, comes from Tupi. For many Indigenous peoples, macaw feathers are raw material for featherwork: headdresses, armbands and adornments full of meaning, made with techniques passed down through generations. The card tells no myth; it celebrates the macaw that shrieks louder than the waterfall.

Why it has this power

A level 3 common with ATK 1100 and DEF 900: a good attack for an early-game bird. It is a fire-element Bird, for the red of its feathers. Sun and Crown speak of light and prominence. Fused with the Messenger of the Dawn, it becomes the Sun-Macaw, Keeper of the Sunset.

Did you know

Macaws can live for several decades, and many pairs stay together for life.
