The myth

The Smoke-Serpent is a MYTHENOR creation, conceived as a step before the Boitatá. In folklore the Boitatá is a fire snake that protects fields and punishes those who burn them; some southern versions say it can turn into a smoldering log to frighten fire-setters. The game imagined the stage before: the smoke of a wildfire taking shape and going out to find whoever lit it. When it meets the Curupira, protector of the forest, the two stories join and become the Boitatá. The message is old: what the forest loses, it remembers.

Why it has this power

A level 6 rare with ATK 2250 and DEF 1900: strong on its own, but made to grow. It is a fire-element Serpent, with Sun and Leviathan, the same constellations as the Boitatá. Fused with the Curupira, it becomes the legendary Boitatá, with ATK 3200.

Did you know

In a letter of 1560, Father José de Anchieta was already describing the baetatá, "thing of fire", seen mostly near the sea and rivers.
