The myth
The Pythia was Apollo's priestess at Delphi, the voice of the most famous oracle of the Greek world. Seated on a tripod in the temple, in a trance, she answered the questions of pilgrims, cities and kings; the priests wrote down her often riddling replies. Ancient writers speak of a vapor, the pneuma, rising from a cleft in the earth. Her name recalls Python, the serpent Apollo slew. Herodotus tells of her famous answer to King Croesus: if he attacked Persia he would destroy a great empire; the empire destroyed was his own.
Why it has this power
An Uncommon level-5 card with 1600 ATK and 1700 DEF: her strength lies in answers, not blows. A Light Spellcaster and the voice of Apollo, she bears the Sun and Fox constellations. Fused with any Serpent she yields Python, and she is a material of the Rite of Athena's Birth, which summons the armed goddess.

Geological studies published in the early 2000s found faults beneath the temple at Delphi and proposed that light gases rose from them.
