The myth

Daedalus was the great Athenian inventor and craftsman. Out of envy he killed his nephew and apprentice Talos, who had invented the saw, and fled to Crete. There he built the wooden cow for Queen Pasiphae and later the Labyrinth to hold the Minotaur. Held captive by Minos, he made wings of feathers and wax and flew away with his son Icarus, who fell into the sea. He took refuge in Sicily with King Cocalus. Apollodorus says Minos found him with a challenge: thread a spiral seashell; Daedalus tied the thread to an ant.

Why it has this power

A Common level-5 card with 1500 ATK and 1750 DEF: an inventor protects his works more than he attacks. An Earth Spellcaster, master of stone and wood, he bears the Wisp and Fox constellations, the spark of invention and cunning. Fused with any Bird, he yields Icarus, Wings of Wax.

Plato says Daedalus's statues seemed so alive that they had to be tied down to keep them from running away.
