The myth
Icarus was the son of Daedalus, the great Athenian inventor held on Crete by King Minos. To escape, Daedalus made wings of feathers bound with wax and taught his son to fly the middle course, neither too near the sea nor too near the sun. Enchanted by flight, Icarus climbed too high; the heat melted the wax, the feathers came loose and he fell into the sea, which was then named Icarian (Ovid, Metamorphoses 8). Apollodorus says Heracles found the body on an island and buried it, and the island was named Icaria.
Why it has this power
A Rare level-6 card with 2150 ATK and 1700 DEF. The high attack and fragile defense tell the whole story: a magnificent flight and a fall. A Light Bird for having touched the sun, he bears the Sun and Crown constellations. He is born from fusing Daedalus with any Bird, like a father giving his son wings.
Did you know
The Icarian Sea in the eastern Aegean and the island of Ikaria still bear the young man's name.
