The myth

Python was the giant serpent of Delphi, born of Earth. In the Homeric Hymn to Apollo she is a fierce she-dragon whom the young god slays with his arrows when founding his temple there; the body rots in the sun, and from this comes the name Pytho, from the Greek verb to rot. Later versions make Python the guardian of Earth's ancient oracle at Delphi before Apollo. The Pythian Games were founded in memory of the victory, and the oracle's priestess came to be called the Pythia.

Why it has this power

A Rare level-7 card with 2350 ATK and 2250 DEF, obtained by fusing the Pythia of Delphi with any Serpent: the priestess who calls back the ancient guardian. An Earth Dragon as a child of Earth, it bears the Sun and Crown constellations, the sun god who defeated it and the sovereignty of the oracle.

The scientific name of pythons, the great constricting snakes, comes precisely from this serpent of Delphi.
