The myth
The eagle was the bird of Zeus, his messenger and companion, perched beside the throne or on the god's scepter. Pindar describes the eagle asleep on Zeus's scepter, lulled by the music of the lyre. Ovid tells that, in love with the young Trojan Ganymede, Zeus wished to be only the bird able to carry his thunderbolts and, as an eagle, bore the youth to Olympus. In some versions the eagle appeared to Zeus as an omen before the war against the Titans; in others it had been King Periphas, transformed by Apollo and set beside the throne.
Why it has this power
A Rare level-7 card with 2400 ATK and 2000 DEF: the strongest Greek bird outside of fusions, worthy of carrying the king's thunderbolts. A Thunder Bird, it shares Zeus's own Wisp and Crown constellations. By the ancient rhyme, Arges plus Eagle of Zeus yields Zeus himself, Lord of Olympus.

Ancient writers linked the constellation Aquila, the Eagle, to the bird of Zeus that carried off Ganymede.
