Inspired by: The real practice of erasing kings' names from monuments, and the Egyptian belief that losing one's name meant losing one's existence.

The myth
For the Egyptians, the name, ren, was one of the most important parts of a person. Budge explains that whoever blotted out someone's name was held to have destroyed them, and that a nameless being could not be presented to the gods. Egyptians applied this in politics: after Hatshepsut's death, Thutmose III had her image and name erased from monuments; later Horemheb tried to erase Akhenaten and his immediate successors from history. This card's Forgotten King is a MYTHENOR echo of those erased rulers.
Why it has this power
A rare level 6 Undead of Darkness with 2050 ATK and 2200 DEF. Moon beats Wisp and Scarab beats Leviathan. It can be summoned directly or born from fusing the Sand-Woken Mummy with any Spellcaster: the magic that wakes an erased king.
Did you know
Although erased from public monuments, Hatshepsut's name was preserved in more secluded areas, such as parts of her temple at Deir el-Bahri.
