The myth

Jackals prowled the desert cemeteries of Egypt, so Egyptians created jackal gods to protect the dead: a powerful divine canine was the best defense against wild dogs. Anubis, called First of the Westerners because the dead were buried in the west, probably developed from an older god, Wepwawet, whose name is understood as Opener of the Ways. Necropolises had sealed doors and divine guardians. This card's sentinel is a MYTHENOR creation inspired by those watchers.

Why it has this power

An uncommon level 5 Warrior of Darkness with 1500 ATK and 1700 DEF: a sentinel built to endure. Moon beats Wisp and Hammer beats Bull. With the Wandering Dune Jackal it fuses into the Pack of the Desert Jackals: one jackal guides, the pack judges.

The title First of the Westerners recalls that Egyptians buried their dead in the west, where the sun sets.
