The myth
In Nahua belief, the nahualli could take the form of an animal, his nahual. The mightiest became jaguars, eagles or serpents; others, humbler creatures. The card’s joke has a curious basis: the turkey, huexolotl, domesticated in Mesoamerica, was also the form of Chalchiuhtotolin, “Precious Turkey,” an aspect of Tezcatlipoca himself, god of night and sorcerers, tied to the day Tecpatl. In other words, even a turkey can be a god in disguise. These nahual beliefs remain alive in many Indigenous communities of Mexico.
Why it has this power
A Level 3 Common with 1000 ATK and 800 DEF: a sorcerer still green. Darkness and Moon are the night he practices in; Fox, cunning. His destiny lies in fusion: with any Beast he finally gets the spell right and becomes the Nahual in Jaguar Form, with 2300 ATK.

The turkey is one of the few animals domesticated in Mesoamerica, along with the dog.
