The myth

In Mexica society every boy received military training. Sons of commoners studied at the telpochcalli, the “house of youth” in each district; nobles attended the calmecac, school of priests and leaders. A youth began by carrying weapons and supplies for veterans and rose in rank only by capturing enemies alive in battle. The most outstanding could join elite orders such as the eagle warriors, who wore feathered suits with talons and a beak-shaped helmet. This apprentice still dreams of wings.

Why it has this power

A Level 3 Common with 1100 ATK and 900 DEF: still learning to fight. Wind and Feather herald the eagle he wants to become; Hammer marks the warrior. He is a key piece: fused with the Eagle of the Nopal Cactus he becomes the Eagle Knight of the Sun, and he is a material for the Rite of the New Fire, which calls Huitzilopochtli.

Did you know

A youth who captured no enemy after a few campaigns could be mocked and leave the military path.
