The myth
For the Mexica, one’s fate after death depended on how one died, not on how one had lived. Warriors killed in battle or in sacrifice went to the House of the Sun, in the eastern sky. Every morning, with shields and war cries, they escorted the sun from dawn to noon. According to the Florentine Codex, after four years they returned to earth as hummingbirds, butterflies and other brightly plumed birds, and lived on the nectar of flowers. This card depicts exactly that rebirth.
Why it has this power
A Level 6 Rare with 2200 ATK and 1800 DEF: the tiny Sun Hummingbird, with 700 ATK, gains the strength of a whole warrior. Fire and Sun are the light he escorted for four years; Crown is the honor of the House of the Sun. It is born by fusing the Sun Hummingbird with the Fallen Warrior of the Flowery Field — the myth itself as a recipe.
