The myth
Tobacco originated in the Americas, and many Indigenous peoples consider it a sacred plant. Sixteenth-century chroniclers described Tupinambá pajés blowing tobacco smoke over people to heal and protect them. Among the Guarani Mbya, the pipe, petyngua, and its smoke are part of prayers in the opy, the prayer house, used to purify and to communicate with the divinities. These uses are sacred and follow each people's rules. Smoke of the Pajé's Pipe is a MYTHENOR trap drawing only on the idea of a calming smoke: one puff, and the enemy forgets why they came.
Why it has this power
An uncommon trap that zeroes the attacker's strength. When the opponent attacks, the attacking monster's ATK becomes 0 for that battle, and it may even be defeated by your defense. It works like Root that Drains Strength but is rarer, giving a second chance to disarm a strong attack.
Did you know
Tobacco's scientific name, Nicotiana, honors Jean Nicot, the French diplomat who brought it to the French court in the sixteenth century.
