The myth

For many Indigenous peoples, knowledge is not in books: it is in the words of the elders. They tell the creation stories, teach the names of plants and animals, remember the paths of the territory and explain the rules for living with the forest and with one another. Among the Guarani Mbya, the senior spiritual leaders, the tamõi, lead the prayers and counsel the community. Today many peoples also record this knowledge in Indigenous schools, books and videos they make themselves. The MYTHENOR spell honors that circle of stories around the fire.
