The myth
The Headless Mule is one of Brazil's best-known hauntings, brought by Iberian tradition in colonial times. According to the legend, a woman who becomes involved with a priest is cursed and, on certain nights, usually from Thursday to Friday, turns into a headless mule that spews fire from its neck and gallops through seven parishes before dawn. The transformation usually happens at a crossroads. To break the spell, someone must remove the mule's iron bridle; whoever succeeds frees the woman. Câmara Cascudo recorded the legend, which had a moral and religious function, in his dictionary of folklore.
Why it has this power
A level 8 epic with ATK 2850 and DEF 2400: the highest attack among the region's epics. It is a fire-element Undead, for the fire from its neck. Sun and Scarab are the flames and the curse. It only reaches the field through the Friday Crossroads Rite, with Charred Wraith, Pisadeira and Corpo-Seco.
