The myth
The tapir, called anta in Brazil, is the country's largest land mammal. It swims very well, lives near rivers and creeks, and opens trails through the forest that other animals later use. By eating fruit and scattering seeds along the way it helps plant the forest, which is why it is called the forest's gardener. Its Brazilian name comes from Tupi. The tapir is also in the sky: for the Guarani, the Tapir constellation, Tapi'i, is watched during the rainy season and helps mark the calendar of planting and harvest. The card is a MYTHENOR creation honoring this quiet guardian.
Why it has this power
A level 4 common with ATK 1000 and DEF 1400: much more defense than attack, like a peaceful, heavy animal. It is a water-element Beast, because it lives between river and forest. Moon and Bull are calm and strength. It is one of the three offerings of the Rite of the Forbidden Hunt, which summons Anhangá.

The Guarani Tapir constellation lies along the Milky Way, near the stars Europeans call Cygnus.
