The myth

The surucucu, known elsewhere as the bushmaster, is a real snake of the Amazon and the Atlantic Forest, the largest venomous snake in the Americas, able to exceed two and a half meters. Its rough scales recall the skin of a jackfruit, hence its Brazilian nickname. It hunts at night by ambush on the floor of the densest, dampest forests, lying still for long periods to wait for prey. It is rarely seen, which only grew its fame among rubber tappers, riverside dwellers and forest peoples. The card tells no myth: it turns that dreaded encounter into a creature of darkness.

Why it has this power

A level 5 uncommon with ATK 1600 and DEF 1100: high attack and low defense, like something that lives by a single strike. It is a darkness-element Serpent, because it hunts in the darkest part of the forest. Moon is the night it comes out; Leviathan, the serpent family. It is an offering for the Rite of the Great Flood, which summons the Boiúna.

Did you know

Unlike most Brazilian vipers, the bushmaster lays eggs instead of giving birth to live young.
