The myth

Vine snake is the common name for several very slender, long Brazilian snakes that live in branches and shrubs. Green or brown, they blend in with vines and twigs, and when the wind blows they sway with the plant so as not to be seen. They are quick, hunt lizards, frogs and small birds, and most are harmless to people. The card tells no myth: it celebrates the art of disguise in the forest, which many Indigenous peoples know closely, because entering the forest means learning to see what hides in plain sight.

Why it has this power

A level 2 common with ATK 800 and DEF 600: one of the region's lightest cards, like the snake's thin body. It is a wind-element Serpent, because it sways with the breeze to hide. Feather speaks of branches and flight; Leviathan ties it to the serpents. Cheap to summon and handy for type fusions.

Did you know

Some vine snakes gape to show the dark inside of their mouths and scare off predators without striking.
