Wildfire Dragon

The myth

This dragon is a MYTHENOR creation, yet it echoes an old folk idea: the Boitatá, the fire that punishes whoever burns forests and fields. There is an important difference. Many Indigenous peoples have practiced swidden farming for centuries, burning small plots, planting them and then letting the forest return. The huge criminal fires set to clear pasture or cropland are something else, and every year they destroy vast areas of the Amazon, the Cerrado and the Pantanal. The card gives a body to that ownerless fire: it is born wherever people set the forest alight.

Why it has this power

A level 5 uncommon with ATK 1850 and DEF 1500: one of the highest attacks among the region's mid-level cards, like a fire that spreads fast. It is a fire-element Dragon. Sun is the dry heat of burning season; Leviathan, the serpent of smoke that crawls over the forest.

Did you know

In late 2020, unprecedented fires destroyed about a quarter of the Pantanal, the most active year for wildfires on record there.
