The myth
In the Scandinavian winter, frozen lakes and inlets became roads, yet the ice was never fully trustworthy. The old sources even preserve the memory of a battle fought on the ice of Lake Vänern in Sweden between the kings Aðils and Áli, mentioned by Snorri. In the myths cold is a primal force: it comes from Niflheim, and the frost giants are the gods' ancient enemies. The Treacherous Fjord Ice represents no specific myth: it is a MYTHENOR creation about the danger of trusting the wrong ground.
Why it has this power
A Common trap that reduces the attacking monster's ATK to zero. It seems solid until halfway across, the card says: the enemy advances confidently, the ice gives way and its strength vanishes. Perfect for punishing the opponent's biggest attacker at the right moment.

The battle on the ice of Lake Vänern is also remembered in Anglo-Saxon tradition, with echoes in the poem Beowulf.
