The myth

Ragnarök, the doom of the gods, is the end of the world in Norse myth. After the Fimbulvetr, wolves swallow the sun and moon, the stars fall, Fenrir and the Serpent break free, Naglfar sets sail and Surtr comes from the south. On the plain of Vígríðr, Odin is devoured by Fenrir, Thor kills the Serpent and dies of its venom, Freyr falls before Surtr, Týr and Garmr kill each other, and so do Heimdall and Loki. Surtr burns the world, and the earth sinks into the sea. But the Völuspá ends in hope: a green earth rises again, and Baldr returns.

Why it has this power

An Epic spell that destroys all of the opponent's monsters at once. It is the end of an entire world in a single card, like the Ragnarök that takes gods and giants alike. But the card reminds you that the end is also a spark: after the blaze, your side of the field can begin again.

Did you know

Ragnarök means the doom of the gods; the variant ragnarøkkr, twilight of the gods, inspired the title of Wagner's opera.
