The myth

Móðguðr is the guardian of Gjallarbrú, the bridge roofed with shining gold over the river Gjöll on the road to Hel's realm. In Gylfaginning, Hermóðr rides Sleipnir for nine nights through dark valleys to plead for Baldr's return. When he reaches the bridge, Móðguðr asks his name and lineage and remarks that the day before, five troops of dead men crossed without making the bridge ring as loudly as he alone does, and that he lacks the color of the dead. Then she shows him the way: downward and to the north.

Why it has this power

A level 6 Uncommon with ATK 1950 and DEF 2000: a guardian, stronger standing on the bridge than advancing. A Darkness Undead, under Moon and Scarab. Fused with the Frozen-Crypt Draugr, she awakens the Draugr Jarl of Náströnd, an Epic with ATK 2700.

In the medieval Norwegian ballad Draumkvedet, Gjallarbrú reappears as a narrow bridge on the way to the afterlife.
