The myth

The dísir are divine female beings of Norse belief. They usually appear in groups, as protectors of a family or a person, and are remembered above all for helping in childbirth and in battle. They were honored with sacrifices called dísablót, often at home and perhaps led by women. At Uppsala in Sweden there was a cult tied to the royal assembly, and from it came the Disting, a market still held in Uppsala today. The word dís lives on in female names such as Hjördís and Þórdís.

Why it has this power

A level 4 Common with ATK 1450 and DEF 1500: steady, like the memory of an entire family. Darkness element, for the mothers who have passed on, under Moon and Fox. As a Spirit it grows with the Seiðr Staff and holds the field with ancestral stubbornness.

Did you know

The Disting market at Uppsala grew out of an ancient cult of the dísir; it was officially abolished in 1895, but it lived on and is still held every early February.
