The myth

Gullinbursti, golden-bristles, is Freyr's boar. In Skáldskaparmál, Loki wagers his own head that the dwarves Brokkr and Sindri cannot make gifts finer than those of the sons of Ivaldi. The brothers forge three treasures: the ring Draupnir, the hammer Mjölnir and a boar with golden bristles. Snorri says Gullinbursti runs through air and over sea, day and night, faster than any horse, and no night is so dark that its bristles do not light it. At Baldr's funeral, Freyr arrives in a wagon drawn by the boar.

Why it has this power

A level 5 Uncommon with ATK 1600 and DEF 1500: a balanced, shining beast. The Light element comes from the bristles that light the night, and the Sun and Bull constellations from gold and animal strength. As a Beast it grows with the Howl of Járnviðr, the Wolf-Fang Torc and the Halls of Valhöll.

Did you know

The boar was an animal tied to Freyr and Freyja, and boar-crested helmets appear in the art and poetry of the old North.
