The myth

Auðumbla is the primordial cow of Norse creation. According to Snorri, she arose from the melting ice in Ginnungagap, at the same time as the giant Ymir. Four rivers of milk ran from her udder and fed Ymir. She in turn fed by licking salty blocks of ice. On the first day a man's hair appeared; on the second his head; on the third the whole man: Búri, grandfather of Odin. Auðumbla appears only in the Prose Edda, and her name is usually tied to wealth, auðr, and to a hornless cow.

Why it has this power
