The myth

Freki is Odin's second wolf, Geri's inseparable companion. His name means the greedy, the ravenous. With his brother he receives the food from the god's table in the hall of Valhöll, according to Grímnismál and Gylfaginning. The word freki was also used in poetry for wolves in general: in the Völuspá's refrain, as the end approaches, the fetter will break and the wolf, freki, will run free. That is why some readers hear in the name an echo of Fenrir, the wolf who breaks loose at Ragnarök.

Why it has this power

A level 4 Common with ATK 1250 and DEF 800: more hunger than guard. Earth element, under Sun and Bull, the constellations of the hunt and of strength. Fused with Geri it becomes the Wolves of the High Seat, a Darkness Rare. The Howl of Járnviðr adds another 500 ATK and DEF.

Did you know

In the Völuspá's refrain, the hound Garmr howls, the fetter breaks and the wolf runs: the word used there for wolf is freki.
