The myth

Fūjin is the kami of wind, shown as a green-skinned demonic figure carrying a great bag of winds on his back. His roots are old: the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki speak of Shinatsuhiko, a wind kami born, in one version, from Izanagi's breath as he blew away the mist covering Japan. Farmers feared the winds that flattened the flowering rice, and shrines such as the great Tatsuta shrine in Nara have held rites to calm them since the seventh century. The image of the god with the bag comes from Buddhist and Chinese models and nearly always appears beside Raijin.

Why it has this power

A Rare level-7 Wind Deity with 2350 ATK and 2050 DEF: nearly as strong as his thunder brother, a little sturdier. Feather is moving air, and Crown, divinity. An ancient rhyme: with Raijin he forms the Twin Tempest. As a Deity, Kusanagi takes him to 3350.

Did you know

The Nihon Shoki records in 675 the first official worship of the wind kami at Tatsuta, held to protect the harvest from storms.
