The myth

This young spring kami is a MYTHENOR creation, but it stands for something very much alive in Shinto. Kami are not only the great deities of myth: rivers, mountains, trees, rocks and springs can be kami too, each deserving respect. At the sources that feed irrigation channels, people revere the mikumari no kami, "kami who distribute the water", also linked to the mountain kami. Small shrines, sometimes just a stone with a sacred rope, mark these places, and people rinse their hands and mouth before praying, as an act of purification.

Why it has this power

A Common level-3 Light Deity with 1000 ATK and 1100 DEF: small in strength, great in dignity. Light, Sun and Crown are the marks of the archipelago's deities, Amaterasu's own on a smaller scale. With Kusanagi, which favors Deities, or the Red Torii Shrine by Moonlight, it grows a great deal.

Did you know

At shrine entrances stands the temizuya, the basin where one rinses first the left hand, then the right, then the mouth, before approaching the kami.
