The myth

Chiron was a centaur unlike the others: son of the Titan Cronus and the nymph Philyra, he was immortal, wise and just. The Iliad calls him the most righteous of the centaurs. In his cave on Mount Pelion he taught heroes such as Achilles, Jason and Asclepius, instructing them in hunting, music, medicine and ethics. During Heracles' fight with the centaurs, an arrow poisoned with the Hydra's blood wounded him by accident. The pain was incurable, and Chiron, being immortal, wished to die; according to Apollodorus, he gave up his immortality to Prometheus.

Why it has this power

An Uncommon level-6 card with 2150 ATK and 2200 DEF: the slightly higher defense shows a teacher who teaches protection, not only harm. A Light Beast-Warrior for wisdom and healing, he bears the Sun and Bull constellations. He accepts Warrior and Beast-Warrior equipment, like the spear he himself gave Peleus.

Many ancient authors identified Chiron with the constellation Centaurus in the southern sky.
