Inspired by: Rhodes, island of Helios the Sun, and the Dragons of Rhodes, giant serpents that, according to Diodorus, terrorized the island until the hero Phorbas destroyed them.

The myth

Rhodes was the island of Helios: Pindar tells that it rose from the sea and was chosen by the sun god when the gods divided the earth. Diodorus Siculus records that the island was once infested with enormous serpents, until an oracle of Apollo summoned Phorbas of Thessaly, who destroyed them; some authors said he became the constellation Ophiuchus. In honor of Helios the Rhodians raised the Colossus, a bronze statue of the god, in the third century BCE. The card's golden dragon is a MYTHENOR creation joining the island's serpents to the light of the Sun.

Why it has this power

A Common level-3 card with 1050 ATK and 950 DEF: balanced numbers for a creature that would rather bask than fight. A Light Dragon for the glow of Helios, it carries the Sun and Crown constellations, the star and the royalty of the island that worshipped him. It is good material for free Dragon rhymes early in a duel.
