The myth

Whisper of the Quicksand is a spell MYTHENOR created, with no direct Egyptian myth behind it. Its theme, strength turning against whoever uses it, speaks to a central idea of Egyptian ethics: ma'at, the harmony and balance of the world. Egyptians believed each person's actions affected not only themselves but others as well, and that excess and disorder eventually exacted their price. The more strength, the deeper you sink: the game's sand teaches the same lesson of measure.

Why it has this power

An uncommon weakening spell: all of the opponent's monsters lose 400 ATK until the end of their next turn. It destroys nothing, but it sinks the whole enemy attack at once, ideal for turning several clashes in the same turn.

Did you know

Ma'at, the goddess of truth and order, was represented by the white ostrich feather used in the weighing of the heart.
