The myth

The Egyptians saw the horizon as a sacred threshold. In the west the sun entered the underworld at dusk; in the east it was reborn every morning. Aker was the deified horizon, guardian of the eastern and western horizons of the afterlife. The dead crossed thresholds too: gates, lakes and boats, such as the crossing of Lily Lake guided by the ferryman to the Field of Reeds. This card's Keeper of the Threshold, standing between life and death and deciding who passes, is a MYTHENOR creation inspired by those borders.

Why it has this power

An uncommon level 5 Deity of Darkness with 1800 ATK and 1700 DEF. Moon beats Wisp and Scarab beats Leviathan. Joined with any Undead, it fuses into the Keeper of the Twelve Gates of the Duat, and the Lapis Serpent Staff gives it +700.

Did you know

The ferryman who carried souls to the Field of Reeds had a reputation for being surly, and one had to treat him kindly to get across.
