The myth
In Egyptian belief, the akh was the immortal, transformed self, the glorious form the justified dead attained. Budge calls it khu and describes it as a shining, luminous, intangible shape of the body; the khus formed a class of celestial beings who lived with the gods. Even so, they could be imprisoned in the tomb, and special formulas existed to free them. The akh came into being when the parts of the person, such as the ba and the ka, were properly reunited after death.
Why it has this power
A rare level 6 Spirit of Light with 2250 ATK and 2100 DEF, obtained only by fusion: Ba plus Ka, the soul and the double reunited, just as in Egyptian belief. Sun beats Moon, and Scarab, the symbol of rebirth, beats Leviathan.
Did you know
The pharaoh Akhenaten's name contains the same word; Budge reads it as Khu-en-Aten and translates it as the glory of the solar disk.
