The myth
Pulque is the fermented drink made from maguey sap. It had ritual uses and its consumption was controlled: elders could drink it, but public drunkenness could be severely punished. The most famous pulque myth is the fall of Tula: according to the Florentine Codex, Tezcatlipoca, disguised as an old man, offered pulque as medicine to the sick priest-king Quetzalcóatl. Drunk, he forgot his penance and ritual baths, broke communion with the gods and ended up abandoning the city. A “pulque stupor” brought down a king.
Why it has this power
An Uncommon trap that drops the attacker’s ATK to 0 — the same effect as the Scorpion's Sting, one rarity higher. The attacker arrives staggering and powerless, like Quetzalcóatl after the pulque. Very useful against Legendaries like Mictlantecuhtli, with 3600 ATK, left with nothing to strike with.
Did you know
Pulquerías, traditional pulque bars, still exist in Mexico City and in Hidalgo, Tlaxcala and Puebla.
