The myth
Huehuecóyotl, “Old Coyote,” is the god of music, dance, pleasure and cunning. Probably of Otomí origin, he was patron of featherworkers and ruled the thirteen-day period beginning on 1 Flower. In the codices he appears as a coyote or as a man with a coyote head, dancing with a rattle in hand and sometimes playing the huéhuetl drum, alongside Macuilxóchitl, god of music. He was known as a trickster who stirred up discord, but also joy. Mexica men prayed to him for health and long life.
Why it has this power
A Level 6 Rare with 2100 ATK and 2000 DEF: an elder’s wisdom and a coyote’s strength in balance. Earth is the ground where people dance; Sun and Bull, the open-air feast and the beast within. He is born by fusing the Singing Coyote with any Spirit: the singer who becomes the god of music.
