The myth

The otontin, “Otomís,” were one of the two most prestigious units in the Mexica army, alongside the cuachicqueh. The name honors the Otomí people, famed for their bravery, and joining the order required many deeds in battle. Otomí warriors fought on the front line and were known for their own hairstyle and insignia. The Otomí people, who call themselves Hñähñu, are alive today in several Mexican states, with their language and traditions. The burning shield on the card is the game’s poetic license.

Why it has this power

A Level 5 Uncommon with 1650 ATK and 1200 DEF: a shock trooper’s attack, the defense of one who never hides. Fire and Sun speak of the fury of those who go first; Hammer, of the warrior. He gains from the Huéhuetl War Drum, the Obsidian Macuahuitl and Huitzilopochtli's Serpent Spear.

Did you know

According to the World History Encyclopedia, only warriors with at least twenty acts of bravery could join the otontin and the cuachicqueh.
