The myth

The atlatl is a spear-thrower: a wooden shaft with a hook at the end where the dart rests. When throwing, it acts as an extension of the arm and multiplies the force and range of the cast. It is one of the oldest weapons in the Americas, used first for hunting and later for war. The Mexica used it with darts (mitl) and spears, striking from a distance before hand-to-hand combat. The atlatl was also an insignia of warrior gods and appears in sculptures at Tula and Chichén Itzá.

Why it has this power

A Level 4 Common with 1300 ATK and 800 DEF: the highest attack among Common warriors but little defense, since he fights from afar without a heavy shield. Earth is the firm ground he braces on; Feather recalls the dart’s flight and Hammer the warrior. He pairs well with the Huéhuetl War Drum.

Did you know

Spanish conquistadors reported that atlatl darts could pierce their chain mail.
