The myth
Mixcóatl, “Cloud Serpent,” is the hunting god of the Chichimec peoples, whom the Mexica counted among their ancestors. Linked to the stars and the Milky Way, he was painted with red and white stripes and a black mask, carrying a hunter’s bow and net. His festival, Quecholli, featured a great ritual hunt. Some accounts make him father of Quetzalcóatl and of the four hundred Mimixcoa, the northern stars. In Tlaxcala his counterpart Camaxtli was the chief god. The game shows him as a cloud serpent that hunts stars.
Why it has this power
A Level 7 Rare with 2300 ATK and 1900 DEF: a hunter’s attack, stronger than the Cloud Serpent it comes from. Wind is the element of clouds; Feather and Leviathan are the birds he hunted and his serpent body. He is born by fusing the Cloud Serpent with a Warrior — the cloud that learns to hunt, as his card says.
Did you know
During the Quecholli festival, the Mexica spent days making arrows before the great hunt held in Mixcóatl’s honor.
