The myth
In the Amazon, the Boiúna, or Great Snake, is called mother of the river: an immense serpent living at the bottom of the waters who, when she moves, opens creeks, topples banks and changes the course of rivers. In versions of the legend she is the mother of Cobra Norato and Maria Caninana. Riverside dwellers see the size of this mother of serpents' power in the force of the floods, which pour into the forest and redraw the channels. The Rite of the Great Flood is a MYTHENOR creation imagining three serpents of forest and river calling the mother of them all, as the black water begins to swirl.
Why it has this power
An uncommon ritual: it offers the Hollow-Trunk Boa, the Deep-Forest Bushmaster and Norato, the River Serpent, to summon the Boiúna, a level 9 epic with ATK 3000 and DEF 2800. Three serpents rest within the mother of all, and her own son is among the offerings.
Did you know
Of the three offerings, only Cobra Norato comes from a legend; the boa and the bushmaster are real snakes of Brazil's forests.
