The myth

In Brazil's tropical forests, vines and creepers can form true plant walls, especially at forest edges and in clearings where light is strong. Some plants, like strangler figs, embrace whole trees. Moving through them takes knowledge, a machete and patience, and forest peoples know how to open and close paths, recognize trails and read where the forest is regrowing. Many vines are also raw material for baskets, ropes and bridges. Living Vine Barrier is a MYTHENOR trap: the forest closes the way in the blink of an eye to protect those inside.

Why it has this power

An uncommon trap that negates an attack. When the opponent attacks, the vines close the path and the blow does not land. It works like the Shield of the Saci but is rarer: with both in your deck, you have better odds of stopping a decisive attack and buying time for a fusion or ritual.

Did you know

Some Amazonian vines hold drinkable water in their stems, and those who know the forest cut them to drink.
